The company’s later owner dates RadioShack to 1921, when Theodore and Milton Deutschmann opened a store in Boston selling radio equipment.28 By the early 1960s the Boston chain was in financial trouble.18
In 1963 Charles Tandy, whose Fort Worth company sold leather-craft supplies, bought it. The Handbook of Texas says he made it profitable within two years.18
